The copyright of the JOMDoc library lies with the KWARC group.

General Licensing

The KWARC group licenses the code via the GNU General Public License Version 3 (GPL3). We feel that this license best protects our intellectual property and promotes the use of open source software in academia.
Note that the JOMDoc library is primarily a research tool intended for the exploration of content markup for scientific/technical documents and not a library for creating end-user tools.

Individual Licensing

While use of the JOMDoc library in non-GPL situations is not our primary goal, we do acknowledge that in some situations, the GPL is too restrictive. Non-copyrightable software from US Government organizations or closed-source commercial use are the most obvious examples. For those cases, we offer individual licenses on a case-by-case basis. Collaboration & Contributions

We are very open towards outside collaboration on the JOMDoc code base. However, to keep the licensing situation manageable, we need contributors to assign the copyright to the KWARC group, represented by its leader, Michael Kohlhase. Contributing to the JOMDoc code signals agreement to this policy.
